What managing property in Georgetown actually involves

Georgetown's condominiums are townhouse-style communities near the town center and the Haverhill line, some with age restrictions. There are almost no rental buildings of three or more units. Boards manage roads, roofs and landscaping more than individual units.

Town departments are at Georgetown Town Hall on Library Street. Route 95 and Route 97 connect the town to Haverhill, Newburyport and Boston; there is no commuter rail.

What owners in Georgetown deal with

Georgetown's Building Inspector, Board of Health, Planning Department and Conservation office all work out of Town Hall at 1 Library Street. Water comes from the Georgetown Water Department on Moulton Street and electricity from the Georgetown Municipal Light Department on Searle Street, so a board deals with two town-run utilities. Wetlands rules shape most exterior projects. The Conservation Commission oversees work within 100 feet of a wetland and within 200 feet of any river, stream, brook or creek, and the town's wetlands regulations set setbacks such as 50 feet for home improvement projects and 75 feet for new impervious area or structures. Near Pentucket Pond and Rock Pond, a Board of Health regulation treats a cesspool within 300 feet of the high-water mark as a failed system that has to be upgraded to Title 5 and local rules.

Georgetown questions

Do you manage condo associations in Georgetown?

Yes, associations of six units and up.

How does a wetlands permit close out in Georgetown?

After the Conservation Commission issues an Order of Conditions, which is recorded at the Registry of Deeds, the owner files for a Certificate of Compliance within 30 days of finishing the project. Once signed and recorded, it clears the order from the deed. The Conservation office is at Town Hall, 978-352-5712.

Who supplies electricity and water to buildings in Georgetown?

The town lists the Georgetown Municipal Light Department at 94 Searle Street, (978) 352-5730, and the Georgetown Water Department at 1 Moulton Street, (978) 352-5750. Both are town departments, so service questions and billing go to them rather than to Town Hall.

Local rules change. Information about Georgetown ordinances and offices was checked in October 2026 and is general information, not legal advice. Confirm current requirements with the city or town before relying on them.
